Raft Fly Fishing Trips (Starting In August 2018)
Enjoy a day of guided fly fishing for smallmouth bass from our 16 foot Cataraft on the picturesque upper Juniata River. The Juinata River is one of the most overlooked rivers in Pennsylvania. This well kept secret has a robust population of smallmouth bass which includes trophy size specimens. Although we specifically target smallmouth bass, the river harbors a healthy population of muskellunge which may present opportunities along the way. The wildlife and scenery of the Juniata River is incredible. We regularly see deer, mink, and bald eagles. On rare occasions, you may even get a glimpse of a river otter.
A typically day on the river starts in the early morning with some top water action using big flies like poppers and stealth-bombers. We may also stop to do some wade fishing in areas if the water conditions are conducive. Around noon, you’ll enjoy a relaxing shore lunch as you replay the mornings events and plan for the afternoon bite. When the sun is high in the sky we target smallmouth with sub surface baits such as crawfish imitations and streamers depending on the mood of the fish. We love our streamer fishing because it tends to be very visual and those big chunks of feather and fur can call up the biggest smallmouth on the river.
Trips run April 1 – October 30
